My name is Leonie O’Sullivan and I am from Cobh which is a small town on the south coast of Ireland. I completed a bachelor's degree in Chemistry at University College Cork in Ireland. Following the completion of my degree, I worked as a Quality Control Analyst through a graduate program with Janssen Sciences, under the Johnson & Johnson umbrella. My team at J&J worked on the startup of new labs, to support the manufacturing expansion on site. In January 2020 I moved from Ireland to Canada and have been very excited to be a part of the Derksen group! My work within the group focuses around the control of cyclic alkynes. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga and baking, I have two cats and I am in the process of setting up an aquarium in my home!
Hello! My name is Daria Strelnikova and I am the Alberta Innovates Researcher for the summer of 2020 in the Derksen Group. I am originally from Surgut, Russia and came here when I was 5 years old. I am an undergraduate student with the University of Calgary, majoring in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology. My focus within the group is working on synthesizing ligands for our PROTAC projects and helping wherever I can. Outside of the university, I am a professional dancer with the Roughnecks Drillcrew and have a passion for teaching and mentorship. If I am not in the lab, you can usually find me either hiking in the mountains or with my dog; Duke!
